Day 254: Anthony Nixon
“… just the simple things like the flowers and the way they are. They don’t try to be something; they just are. Just be … just be who you are. You don’t have to try. You don’t have to go to extremes and do all these things and look around at what people do. You just have to be who you are, and that brings the results; major results, fantastic results.”

Toni Reece: Thank you so much, Anthony, for agreeing to be part of the Project today, and before we begin, can you please introduce yourself?
Anthony Nixon: Hi, Toni, thanks for having me. My name is Anthony Nixon, and I’m married to Louise, and we have three amazing boys. I’m also Founder of the Glow Factor, which is a method, a process through which anyone can find success and fulfillment, and I also lecture at Staffordshire University in the UK, and I act as a consultant on software development and social media.
Toni: Fantastic! Well thank you for being here today. Anthony, when you think about the word inspiration, who do you inspire, and how does that happen?
Anthony: Well, first of all, I think I try and inspire just about anyone who feels as though there is something missing in their life; people who feel like they need something more. They are not complete. A lot of people feel like that, so for me it’s just about reaching out to those people and actually just trying to find them.
Toni: How does it happen when these people are in front of you, Anthony? How does that inspiration occur? What happens between you and them?
Anthony: Well, it’s quite interesting, Toni, because I’ve spent 20 years completely deaf, not being able to hear any words, and during that time I had to look beyond the words to find meaning. And what that meant is, I could see beyond the words, and I could see why people were getting the results that they were getting.
I could also see when people really did achieve. When they really did get the things that they wanted, I could see something that was happening beyond the words, and I could see all that. So effectively what I tried to do is model that into a process, and that process is called the Glow Factor, and that’s really what I do.
Toni: So you put together a system, so to speak, that’s called Glow Factor – is that what it’s called?
Anthony: That’s right, Toni. That’s it.
Toni: So Anthony, how does working with the Glow Factor, working with you, how do you help people then to explore their potential?
Anthony: What we do is I spend time with them, and I found that when someone is really fulfilled … when someone is really fulfilled in what they do, they’re more productive, they’re more effective. They actually attract things to them as well. So what I actually do working with people is take them to times when they were really fulfilled, and you look at those times, and you call out, you flush out the attributes of those times when you were really fulfilled. And then we create the plan for their life to use those attributes, to incorporate those attributes to achieve the things that they want; and it really, really does work.
Toni: And is that what you’ve done for yourself, to get to this place, Anthony?
Anthony: Absolutely, absolutely. What I did, being deaf for so long and realizing what I could see in other people, I wanted to try to help them myself. I wanted to test it on myself and moved essentially from within the space of five years to having a life skill at 50 with no qualifications – and I had no qualifications at all – and move to the point of getting a degree and moved into the software industry, and it just took me so far; it just took me so far.
Toni: So, Anthony, what inspires you?
Anthony: I think what really … there’s so many things that inspire me, you know, and I think when we look around, when I look around, virtually everything inspires me. You know, I look at the chair I am sitting on now, you know, started from someone’s thoughts, started from someone’s ideas. When I’m working with people, if they look back at their results they got since applying these things – that’s what really inspires me; the results that people are getting.
I just thought about it the other night. You know, I was sitting at home and … I met my wife, oh it was a good while ago now, you know, probably about 25 years ago, something like that, and there was this song … you guys may … look it up, it’s on YouTube, it’s called True by Spandau Ballet, and I’m not sure if you remember it, but look it up. This song was playing when I met her, and about two nights ago sitting in the living room … and I looked on the wall and there’s three pictures of the children on the wall, and this song was playing, and you just realize just how much you can do. The name of the song is really getting me because it is true. It is true.
Toni: And the name of the artist again? The song is called True?
Anthony: And it’s by a group called Spandau Ballet.
Toni: Okay. We’ll have to check that out.
Anthony: It’s a great song.
Toni: So, Anthony, when you find yourself needing to be inspired in different ways, or maybe you’ve woken up a couple of days and you go “I really could use a little inspiration here,” what do you tend to reach for? What tools and resources do you tend to reach for?
Anthony: I think I tend to go out to nature, really. I tend to go out to nature and you just feel so much a part of everything once again and you realize, you know, that there is a method to things; there is a process. There is a way of doing things that creates results, and you look at … I don’t know, just the simple things like the flowers and the way they are. They don’t try to be something; they just are. Just be … just be who you are. You don’t have to try. You don’t have to go to extremes and do all these things and look around at what people do. You just have to be who you are, and that brings the results; major results, fantastic results.
Toni: Anthony, you had mentioned earlier in the interview that you had to look beyond words. Can you just take a moment and tell me what you meant by that, because that is very inspiring, I think, that you had to do that – what does that do? What happens?
Anthony: What actually happens there, Toni, is because words are the quality of communication, so many people are attaching so much importance to the words. But when I look beyond the words, I could see the thoughts, the beliefs, all of these things that are driving those words. I could see all those align and the way they were meant to align, and I could see that even though people would say they were going to do this and they would say they were going to achieve this, I could see beyond that – their beliefs and their thought patterns telling me straight away that it wouldn’t happen. I had to … I mean, really, Toni, that language became my first language. It became my natural language just because it had to. You know, that’s the only way I could really communicate and survive.
Toni: And that language, is that the power … is part of that the power of observation?
Anthony: It’s heightened by acute observation. I have to have that observation, and that observation is honed, but anyone can do it. And that’s what I teach with the Glow Factor, because when someone’s in a language, it’s all aligned, it simply happens. And the terminology that I’ve got for it is that they glow, and people can see that. You know, if you see … just watch a singer singing effortlessly. They’re glowing. There’s something about them. They’re being who they are. They’re doing it naturally. If you try and ask them what they do, they couldn’t tell you. They just say “Oh, I’m just singing. I’m just performing.” And the thing is, they are – they’re glowing. They’re glowing.
It’s the same … you take the same analogy to perhaps working on a checkout desk in the supermarket. If you go there and you’re served by someone who is really fulfilled in what they do, you notice that. I’m convinced of it, you notice that. And they attract opportunities to them it, they attract opportunities to them. The more I see, the more evidence I’m getting from the work I’m doing, the work I do is linked to the Law of Attraction. Because when you’re in that state, when you’re glowing, you attract things to you. You attract opportunities to you.
Toni: So Anthony, what are you doing now to explore your own potential?
Anthony: I think what I do now to explore my own … I’m realizing my own potential through helping others. That’s the way I’m realizing my potential right now. Because I’ve spent so long in jobs that were frustrating, now I’m doing something that really, really fulfills me. I can work with people now, and as I’m working with them, I’m exploring my own potential as well.
I’ll give you an example of that. About three weeks ago, I was invited to speak at a University in Germany. We spent a week there with the students, and each day we did this little thing, and again I explored my potential because each day we would try new things and see which things were hitting the spot in terms of getting people to connect with their inner language. And by them exploring themselves, I’m exploring myself as well, absolutely.
Toni: That’s fantastic. How do you take what you learn as you are working with others and exploring your own potential during that work, how does it then translate and transfer into the work that you do for others? Can you give an example of that? How does it relate?
Anthony: Yeah, I think that as I’m working, what I always do is get people to notice the results always. When I think of … I could give you tons of examples, amazing examples, and just one example: I met a guy who I worked with nine months ago. He found out his glow factor. He really wanted to get into property, but he just got a job and he hadn’t gotten into a career he wanted to get in to, but he understood what really fulfilled him for the first time in his life, and we created a plan. I saw him again about two weeks ago, and you know what? He owns two properties now. He owns two properties and he also manages three properties, someone came along to him and said “Will you manage these properties for me?”
So, I think for me exploring my potential it’s always things like that and specific examples with specific strong results and I say to myself actually “There is something really special going on here. How can I learn from it? How can I take this now and expand on it??
I think what I’m doing, Toni, is I’m making links between what other people are doing out there and in terms of the Law of Attraction, in terms of all the other things that people do, and try to see where it might fit in with it and how it can link this together. So I think in terms of that, that’s exploring my potential as well.
Toni: Absolutely. I love that, that you help people to find their glow factor. I think that’s just great; I love that term. Well, Anthony, you have been a pleasure to interview, and the work that you’re doing really sounds fascinating, and what you’ve been through to, you know, be able to do this type of work. We will have a way for people to find you at the bottom of the transcript of the interview, and for your time today and being part of the Get Inspired! Project, we thank you so very much.
Anthony: Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to be involved, Toni. I have been reading all the interviews since you started, and I think it’s a fantastic project. I’m really grateful for the work that you do to give people like myself a voice and a way of reaching out to people, so thank you very much.
Toni: I’m humbled by it, Anthony. Thank you for being here. Take care.
