Toni Reece: Thank you so much, Linda, for agreeing to be part of the Project today, and before we begin, can you please introduce yourself?

Linda Adsetts: My name is Linda Adsetts.  I live in Vancouver, Canada, a beautiful part of the country, and thank you for inviting me on this show.  I really appreciate it.

Toni: Absolutely, Linda, and we appreciate you being here.  Linda, when you think of the word inspiration, who do you think you inspire, and how does that happen?

Linda: I hope that I inspire everyone that I come across, but I know that’s not always true.  I know that I inspire a lot of people through my writing and through my channeling messages that I do, and messages I give when I’m in meditation circles with people.  I primarily want to offer hope to people and give them a sense of their own magnificence, because today so many people are feeling hopeless and challenged by life.  And with some encouragement, they can be given a new perspective, and I want to pass that along to others.

Toni: Fantastic.  Now, how does that happen with your writing or the meditation?  Can you give us an example of an experience that someone might have, or maybe an example of what someone has told you that they have gotten from you, and they were inspired because of going through this process with you?

Linda: Yes, I can, and actually I was just going to try and pull something up.  I’ve had so many different responses to the emails that I send out.  A lot of times people are just … it’s very generalized, in that they say “it came just at a time when I most needed it.”  And of course now I can’t remember which particular email did that for them, but I did receive one the other day that said “I giggled, I smiled, and then above all, I heard the truth.”  So when you get things back like that, it’s nice to know that you’ve encouraged people in that way.

Toni: Fantastic, and I’m so sorry about the interruption there.

Linda: Oh, no that’s fine.

Toni: When you send these emails, can you give me an example of what do you do?  What are the emails about?

Linda: Well, for instance, a couple of days ago I was watching a movie, and one of the characters, a young female with a sister that was a teenager that was being moody said to her mother “Someday she’ll realize that angst is optional.”  And that hit me like a ton of bricks.  And so I’ve just finished writing about that.  I hadn’t sent it off yet.  But I realized with that statement “angst is optional” that has been a life lesson for me, because I have been someone who has been moody throughout my whole life on and off, and I’ve worked with it a lot, and so my writing is just about that.  Very much a short form, short statements.  I don’t go into huge detail about it, but just kind of a general overlay about it, and how I’ve come to view it now.

Then at the end of that, I let The Group expound on that.  And The Group is a gathering of nonphysical beings, so they could be described as a counsel to my soul, my guardian angels, God, the Universe, and they come in with an observation on this.  And so in this particular observation for this particular piece of writing on angst, they said “When you recognize life lessons like that, then you … immediately it expands the whole universe and you add to that which is whole, and you help others that are already … that may be in that position now.”

Toni: Well that leads very nicely into the second question of the Project, which is how do you help others explore their potential?  So that’s a great example of that, so can you go into that a little bit more?  How does the work that you do, or just what you do in general help other people to explore the potential?

Linda: I think that, and I know it’s true for me, when I read other people’s books … I love reading, one of my favorite things to do.  And when I read other people’s books and other people’s stories, then when people open their hearts and show you their shadow selves in their books or their speaking, you understand that you’re not alone.

And I think so many people feel alone in life and misunderstood and not realizing they’re not the only ones feeling a certain way, but that it’s okay to be angry, it’s okay to get jealous – all the different emotions that we have as human beings, as we’re trying to figure out who we are in response to the life that we live.  And so I hope that when people read what I’ve written that they see themselves sometimes in that story and they can view their life through a different lens.

Toni: Okay.

Linda: And see that there is hope.  There is light at the end of the tunnel, that they don’t have to see things in a very human way, which is a funny way to put it, but …

Toni: That they should see things in a human way, or that they …

Linda: No, they should … if you could step back from your life and see it like a story, then you can begin to see what’s going on.  You can see the general theme sometimes.  You could see how your life is playing out.  And I want people to understand that they’re creating their life by their thoughts, their feelings, their actions, and that they have control over it.

And most of the time people don’t feel … you know, they often feel not in control of it, and then they try to grab control in really odd ways, in ways that don’t serve them.  So they become over-controlling about how clean their house is, or how people do certain things, without realizing the only control they have is over themselves and not over the world that surrounds them.

Toni: What a great piece of advice.  Linda, what inspires you?

Linda: Oh, I get inspired by so much.  As I said before, you know, watching a movie and one line in there got my attention, and so I get it … it depends on how I feel.  I can be inspired very easily by just about anything, and if I’m really in a bit of rut, then I really need friends around me to support me that can listen to me and kind of help remind me of who I am.  And the most important thing I can do is to write and let The Group come in and begin to uplift me again.

Toni: So they’re …

Linda: I find I’m most … I’m sorry?

Toni: No, no, go ahead.

Linda: I’m most inspired when I’m working with them actually.

Toni: So they are your support system as well.

Linda: They are a huge support system when I take the time to use them.  I’ve got great family, I’ve got great friends, and so all of that really helps to support me and inspire me.  There’s so much around, you know … in nature and music and books and people, that there’s inspiration everywhere if you can open up your eyes and your ears to see and hear it, but I don’t always, so that’s when I need nudges from people.

Toni: So Linda, have you always known that the gift that you have, or being open to this group for support, to be able to share that gift with others … have you always known that it was there?  A lot of what’s happening with the Get Inspired! Project is the messages are coming out about passion and purpose, so that’s really why I’m asking the question.  Have you always known that this was your purpose?

Linda: I would say no.  I would say that I’ve always known that I have uplifter in me.  If you asked me who I am, I would say I’m an uplifter, and I like to share information.  I’ve always known that.  I haven’t always known that The Group was there, and it was a bit of a … it was a bit of a great leap of faith for me to actively bring them forward and say “This is what I do.”  So that’s been new for me in the past couple years to just put that out there to everyone rather than just to a few friends and people that I’ve worked with, doing the same thing.

My family thinks I’m a little bit odd, and it’s something that a lot of people still think is different and “woo-woo” kind of stuff.  So the first time I did that and sent an email out that said “Yes, I’m channeling this,” it was a huge leap of faith.

Toni: That must have taken a bit of courage.

Linda: It did.  It did, and I thought “Oh, what’s the worst that’s going to happen?  They’re just going to say ‘Take me off your list,’” and so that happens occasionally still.  I’ll have a subject topic, the topic that people will respond and say “Please take me off your list” and I think “Oh, I pushed a button there – I don’t know what it was, but I pushed a button.”  And that’s all right, you know?  That’s actually probably a good thing to happen.

Toni: What gave you the courage to do that, to just trust in yourself and what you knew, to put it out there?

Linda: I think because we’d been transferred to the West Coast, I didn’t know anyone, I had nothing to do, I had this email list that I’d had since I closed down the business.  It was closed down for a year, and I’ve been doing a bit of meditation classes and readings at parties and things, so I would inform people of that kind of thing, and I just felt a need to connect with everyone still.

And I had the time, and I thought “Well, let’s write about my life.  Let’s write about the move to the West Coast,” because I actually created the move myself through visualization and a whole bunch of different things, and it all just magically fell into place, and it was absolutely astounding when I look back on it.  So I had to share that with people.

And then I decided I would use some tarot cards to give a reading, but I thought if we’re all one, and these people are on my list, they’re connected to me in some way, then whatever cards I pull will have meaning for the whole group.  And I did that a couple of times, and then I realized what I was hearing was this voice that represented more than one being, and that’s when I stepped into allowing The Group to stand alone, as it were.

Toni: So Linda, for you, how do you explore your own potential?

Linda: Right now I explore it … I best explore it by trying out new things.  I’m still doing lots of reading, which always gets me to thinking.  I don’t attend a lot of conferences or events anymore unless it’s someone really spectacular for me, because for some reason I just backed off from that and felt like I just needed to retreat from all of that for a little while.  But I think that people most get … I know for myself, my potential is expanded when I try something new.  When I step out of my comfort zone and I say “yes” to something, when I speak to strangers, when I throw myself into life …

Toni: And that’s really setting an example for the work that you might be doing for others, the impact that you’re having on others.

Linda: I hope so.  I hope that when you do things like that, that you give other people license to do the same, to go “Well, if she can do it, I can do it,” because basically is … that’s kind of the book thing.  I was talking to … I know a couple of people that have written books, and then I read something on the internet and I thought “Oh crap, if they can do it, I can certainly do this.  I can give it a shot, because if I don’t give it a shot, then I’ll never know,” and so that’s kind of how I approach it.  If I don’t try it, I will never know.  I’m just sorry that it took this long for me to come to that, you know?

Toni: Absolutely, but what a gift that you are leaving others, and we appreciate you sharing your story and the fact that, you know, it didn’t come easy to you, that you needed a couple of courage points along the way to be able to do what you felt was the right thing to do so that you could help others as well.  And it’s been an absolute pleasure learning this about you in the interview, and we can’t thank you enough for being here today.

Linda: Well thank you so much, Toni, and I love that phrase “courage points” – I may borrow that from you.

Toni: No worries!  Because that’s what I heard.  Well thank you so much, Linda, and take care of yourself.

Linda: Thank you, Toni, for having me on your show.  Take care.
